Sixth generation potter from the Owens Family in centeral North Carolina. Janet learned to "throw" pottery at the young age of 5. She helped in her Grandparents pottery business, then later her Parents pottery business. In 1986 she married Michael Calhoun shortly after, she and Michael started Traditions Pottery. They own 2 retail stores, and have an ecommerce site and participate in one show each year. They host 2 wood fired pottery kiln openinngs each year. Prior to becoming a full time potter, Janet was an Admin for a Craft Coop, Manager of the Corning Revere Factory Outlet Store, and GM for the Wilcox Emporium.
