I was born and raised in Kentucky. I have a BA from Eastern Ky University and a Masters in Organizational Communications from Miami of Ohio.
In 1994 I left corporate sales and moved from KY to Wisconsin to start two small businesses with my husband - a retail store and a construction company. We did both for about 10 years and then decided to join efforts and focus on the retail store. We have expanded 3 times and today have a 5000 square foot store in an refurbished barn (parts are new) and a 3000 sq. foot design center next door in an old granary building. We are in a tourist area so our business is very seasonal. We have faced the challenge of making ours a year round business . We currently employee 14 people - 5 of us are full time. We have survived 2008, the pandemic and a 6 month high way closure.
We raised our two daughters in our business. Our oldest daughter, Ellie, was in a fatal ATV accident in 2017 - We have since started a foundation in her name and have a section of our store where we donate 100% of all profits to her foundation. We focus on supporting mental health programs in our community.
My husband and I are both very involved in our community and sit on several boards.
